Aileron H10
This sculpture, like the H8 fin, dates back to 2014, a time when the "politically correct" figure put forward estimated the number of sharks killed at 100 million each year, among other things for their fins. It was in response to this alarming number that I then created these special series of 100 small bronze fins to raise awareness of this ecological tragedy.
A few years later, in 2022, Sea Shepherd revealed an even darker reality, with an estimate raised to 273 million sharks slaughtered each year.
This art work still embodies an urgent call for the preservation of shark populations.
Chromed, painted or patinated, this series also denounces "finning" (fin cutting), unfortunately still relevant today.
You will find some of these fins on my website https://art-action.mc , feel free to have a look!
