Exhibition under the High Patronage of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II

The theme of the 2026 trade fair stems from the sentiments of our times. Culture is fragile, nature is fragile, and so are the balances that underpin our lives. Yet, when acknowledged, fragility generates a dynamic strength rooted in constant creativity and a healthy vitality.

To support and express this concept within the realm of the visual arts, the AIAP proposes exhibiting—for this year’s event—only works made from paper and ceramic objects, or created using materials that suggest a certain fragility (whether conceptual or material). The artworks will be in direct contact with visitors: unframed and pinned directly onto the raw walls or suspended within the exhibition space.

It is a great pleasure and honor for me to participate in this exhibition with a very special work, which you can discover starting July 16 at the exhibition hall at 4 Quai Antoine 1er in Monaco, from 2pm to 6pm.

FRAGILE, in every sense of the word
The physical fragility of the subject merges with the fragility of the material.

This recycled-paper seahorse, scaled up to human size, makes a silent disappearance visible. Composed of strips pinned to a raw backing, it remains deliberately exposed to deterioration. The paper—fragile and transformed—evokes ecosystems in a state of constant reconfiguration. Each fragment hovers between cohesion and collapse, mirroring threatened marine environments.

The seahorse, whose numbers have been dwindling since 2010, embodies a fragility and vulnerability that are both biological and symbolic. Scaling it up does not monumentalize it; instead, it amplifies its precariousness.

The work thus invites a delicate attentiveness, where fragility—far from being a weakness—becomes an active force that engages both our gaze and our sense of responsibility.
